Rahul Dravid and Sachin partnership Records in 4th test of India-England Serires


Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar added 119 runs for the third wicket providing the 18th occasion of these two batsmen stitching a three figure partnership – the most between any two pair of batsmen in the annals of Test cricket. R Draivd-SR Tendulkar, CG Greenidge-DL Haynes and ML Hayden-RT Ponting are the three pairs in the annals of test cricket who have posted 16 three figure partnerships


R Dravid extended his world record of being a partner in a three figure partnership from the existing 81 to 82, while SR Tendulkar has it increased from 74 to 75. RT Ponting with 78 three figure partnerships to his credit occupies the second place below R Dravid.

R Dravid, RT Ponting and SR Tendulkar are the only three batsmen in the annals of Test cricket to have partnered 75 or more three figure partnerships. R Dravid and SR Tendulkar have partnered in a three figure stand for the third wicket on 16 occasions for the third wicket

R Dravid and SR Tendulkar have added 5993 runs in 118 innings and require seven more runs to total 6000 runs. CG Greenidge-DL Haynes of West Indies {6482} and ML Hayden-JL Langer of Australia {6081} are the only two pairs to have added 6000 plus runs in the annals of Test cricket.

Dravid and Tendulkar have partnered in 101 stands for the third wicket, the first pair of batsmen to do so. They also became the first pair of batsmen in the annals of Test cricket to add 5000 plus runs for the third wicket. They achieved this milestone when the pair added 52 runs during the course of their stand of 119 runs in the second innings of this Test. At the end of this Test they have added 5067 runs

The 119 runs three figure stand for the third wicket between R Dravid and SR Tendulkar provide the 44th occasion of a three figure stand by Indian batsmen against Sri Lanka. This stand also provides the seventh occasion of a three figure partnership posted by Indian batsmen for the third wicket against Sri Lanka.

The other 6 occasions are: 117 runs between Gavaskar / Vengsarkar at Kanpur in Dec 1986, 173 between Amarnath / Vengsarkar at Nagpur in Dec 1986, 162 between Kambli / Tendulkar at Col-PSS in Aug 1993, 121 between Sidhu / Tendulkar at Lucknow in Jan 1994, 160 between Ganguly / Dravid at Mumbai in Dec 1997 and 139 between Ganguly / Tendulkar at Col-SSC in Feb 1999.
